OhioHealth Taps Indicative to Improve Critical Healthcare Applications
Fort Collins, CO July 18, 2006
Indicative Software today announced that OhioHealth, one of the Midwest’s largest healthcare organizations, has chosen to integrate Indicative’s all-in-one, end-to-end IT service management software to manage business-critical patient service applications. It plans to use Indicative to bolster disaster recovery capabilities involving more than 50 critical applications.
OhioHealth is a not-for-profit aggregation of eight acute-care hospitals, with affiliation to another seven hospitals in the state of Ohio. The organization has more than 15,000 employees and more than 2,500 physicians in its network. The company determined it needed to more effectively monitor the performance of patient-facing applications, which it had been managing from anecdotal reports from patients and healthcare professionals. Indicative was able to establish performance baselines during OhioHealth’s proof-of-concept (POC) testing, which provided hard evidence of the need for performance improvements. The POC also allowed the company to quickly resolve those initially-identified issues that had negatively impacted user experiences with the applications.
Indicative also uncovered performance issues with a critical application that physicians and other hospital staff use to quickly access patient records during treatment to ensure all factors were known before dispensing medications or administering treatment to a given patient. In some cases OhioHealth was able to reduce painful wait times from hundreds of seconds down to a few seconds by identifying performance-impacting issues identified by Indicative.
"Healthcare is among the most demanding IT-dependent sectors when it comes to managing services," said Lacy H. Edwards, CEO of Indicative Software. "Physicians and healthcare professionals rely heavily upon IT to access and deliver timely information regarding patient conditions, health, medications and diagnoses. OhioHealth is taking full advantage of Indicative’s end-to-end monitoring from the physician’s or provider’s perspective, which significantly improves their ability to get what they need to serve patients."
OhioHealth is in the process of installing Indicative 7.5, which will enable proactive IT service management across its IT environment as well as identify and define opportunities for OhioHealth to optimize application service delivery throughout the organization.
