LeftHand Networks® today added valuable leadership expertise to its executive suite with the hiring of John Hillyard as chief financial officer (CFO). Hillyard’s addition affirms the iSCSI storage area network (SAN) provider’s ongoing success and momentum within the storage infrastructure software market.

“John Hillyard complements the LeftHand Networks executive team, lending incredible financial and operations experience to our organization,” said Bill Chambers, chief executive officer for LeftHand Networks. “His leadership within evolving companies is a strategic boost as we continue to push our business to the next level in the maturing iSCSI storage market.”

As CFO, Hillyard assumes financial leadership for the iSCSI SAN pioneer. He will help lead the company through its next growth stage, taking responsibility for strategic planning, finance, human resources and information systems. He joins LeftHand Networks with more then twenty years experience as CFO for public and private technology companies, including FrontRange Solutions, InteliData Technologies Corporation and eFunds Corporation.

According to Chambers, Hillyard’s presence allows LeftHand Networks to take the next step as an open iSCSI storage software provider. In addition to its own NSM hardware offerings, the company continues to license and support SAN/iQ software on industry-standard platforms from vendors like Hewlett-Packard, Intel, MPC Corp, SuperMicro, and Xyratex.

“Customers today are looking for SAN solutions that are easy to install and manage,” said Doug Chandler, IDC program director for storage software and services. “LeftHand Networks’ SAN/iQ software is designed to provide simple and effective SAN management across a variety of storage hardware platforms.” Chandler noted that IDC will begin tracking LeftHand Networks’ storage management software under IDC’s recently revised Storage Software taxonomy.

“The addition of John Hillyard as CFO positions LeftHand as an advancing force while still holding true to its iSCSI pioneer roots,” said Rob Cousin, Managing Director, JP Morgan Asset Management. “With more than 4,000 user licenses placed, LeftHand Networks’ SAN/iQ software has caught the industry’s attention with its enterprise-class features without an enterprise-class price tag. The company is aligned for success and solid growth as the open iSCSI SAN technology market advances.”

“It truly is an exciting time for LeftHand Networks and its investors,” said Wayne Nemeth of Alternative Investments at Credit Suisse. “Storage hardware has become a commoditized market as standards level the playing field in terms of speeds and feeds. iSCSI storage infrastructure software is now the true value-add solution and LeftHand Networks is leading the charge with strategic offerings on both the software and hardware side of the table.”

The company’s patented architecture increases data availability, allows users to start small and grow the SAN seamlessly, and simplifies management. The LeftHand SAN is ideal for primary storage and server consolidation, centralized backup, and disaster recovery. For more information, contact LeftHand at info@lefthandnetworks.com.
